| | Fields of Activities OAED takes action in the following sectors: - the one of VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE of the manpower by its specialized Executives and counselors about the professional alternatives offered,
- the one of VOCATIONAL TRAINING of the manpower which aims at the
- creation of specialized manpower,
- transition from education and Vocational training to the production procedure.
This is how the encounter of the needs in professional qualifications that are caused by the continuously changing demands of the Labour Market will be accomplished, as well as the smooth accession and integration of young people to it. An extensive net of 57 Vocational Training Centres throughout the country is responsible for the accomplishment of this task. In order to fulfill its goals, the Organization participates in 15-member Organizations Network named E.V.T.A. (European Vocational Training Association) and among others it sets at Computer Network, Training Centres for young people who suffer from social exclusion. In this way an advantageous co-operation will be accomplished, for trainees (mutual contacts-exchanges of trainees) as well as for trainers (exchange of training products, organization of common projects) enhanced by the participation in E.V.T.A. WEBSITE. O.A.E.D. is also a member of CEDEFOP, an institution aimed at: - Studying and promoting vocational training issues and
- Supporting European Commission, social partners and Organizations regarding the implementation of vocational training policies.
O.A.E.D. provides Vocational Training with the following forms:  - The Initial Training, which includes the following forms of training:
- Apprenticeship and Technical-Vocational Centres (Level 2)
- Institutes of Vocational Training (Levels 1 and 3)
- The Continuing Vocational Training which is consisted of :
- Programmes for the Training of unemployed,
- The In-work Training programmes of personnel according to the National Certification System (aimed at increasing productivity of employees and thereby of the competitiveness of the enterprises),
- A Pilot programme for the Training of self-employed,
- Programme enabling transition or unemployed people from training to Employment,
- Programmes addressed at people facing/endangered with Social Exclusion,
- Programmes in the framework of Social Exclusion,
- Integrated innovative and pilot programmes according to the initiatives of the E.U. (Pilot programmes for unemployed who are registered in the Unemployment Live Register and young people who have dropped out of the Educational System),
- Establishment of L.A.E.K.(Special Fund for Employment and Vocational Training) Employment and Vocational Training which are strengthened through the implementation of specific programmes.
- The PROMOTION OF EMPLOYMENT through:
matching between Labour Supply and Demand by offering to each unemployed a working place, related to his qualifications. The increasing number of women as well as of migrant workers, results to an increase of Supply of Labour. OAED pursues work placements through the enhancement of the geographical and vocational mobility of the manpower at the national and transnational level (through utilization of prospects that EURES network offers regarding free circulation of goods services, human resources and capital) and the accomplishment of special programmes and actions by the Employment Services. (ex- Employment Offices). The latter implement active employment measures by providing higher subsidies a) to employers who create new posts of work and b) to new free-lance professionals to encourage them to start their own entrepreneurial activity. Astrand of measures (including : training, In work practice employment, self-employment) adapted to the particular target group within the conditions of Labour Market, is also implemented. The enforcement of the new institution of "Information Offices for the Unemployed" and "Information Offices for Enterprises" delivering services to the unemployed and providing information to enterprises for Training and Employment programmes of O.A.E.D. is expected to boost Employment. - The SUPPLY OF SOCIAL SECURITY provisions (Unemployment Benefits as well as conscription, supplementary maternity allowances, Allowance due to insolvency of the employer, etc) by its Local Services.
- The accession of GROUPS OF POPULATION FACING OR ENDANGERED WITH SOCIAL EXCLUSION of the population, (ex-drug addicts handicapped persons, or released prisoners) in the Labour Market.
