| | Social Security Providing beneficiaries with social security allowances and benefits, has always been and continues to be one of the most important tasks for O.A.E.D. The institution of social security benefits is refferring to a fair social policy towards unemployed and all groups of population in general who need it. According to the philosophy of the benefits system, both enployers and employees are obliged to pay their contributions. The legal framework is consisted by several Laws regulating details concerning each Benefit or Allowance. Beneficiaries of Social Security provisions against danger of Unemployment, are people who - irrelevant to their state of origin - are salaried workers (with Fixed term contracts or non fixed term contracts), receiving Social Security provisions by a relevant Body (for example Social Security Foundation -I.K.A.). As well as young people after having completed 15th year of age. Specifically an unemployed person is entitled to Unemployment Benefit in case his work contract expired or in case he was dissmissed. The Benefits are divided to Regular Unemployment Benefit (leading to Easter and Christmas Benefits) and Special Allowances. Beneficiaries of O.A.E.D. are given the opportunity to transfer the right of receiving Regular Unemployment Benefit in any Member State of E.U. in case they fullfil all presupositions. Other types of provisions are Family Allowance and Special Seasonal Allowance as well as the special Benefit payed to social groups facing or enangered with Social Exclusion. These Allowances and Benefits, are granted by Social Security Offices inside Local Services of O.A.E.D., as well as by Services co-operating with O.A.E.D. throughout the country. These Services are also responsible to provide useful information. More specifically, the types of benefits granted are the following: - Unemployment Benefit
Salaried workers, whose work contract expired or were dissmissed, are entitled to Unemployment Benefit according to certain presuppositions. The duration of subsidy is dependent on the number of working days that the beneficiaries completed within a given period of time. - Benefit Due to Insolvency of Employer
Salaried workers, in case the enterprise in which they were employed shut down, are entitled to it. The unemployed person must not have been paid the six months preceding the bankruptcy of the enterprise. The Benefit raises up to three monthly wages. - Special Seasonal Allowance
This allowance is being granted to people whose professional activity is characterized as seasonal (Construction Workers, tobacco workers, actors, musician, shoe-makers, salaried workers of the tourism industry, etc.) payments take place on annual basis and the height of the allowance depends on the categorization of the beneficiary. - Family Allowance
The Allowance is paid to salaried workers, (under public Law regulations) irrespective of their origin. The amount is dependent on the number of children entitled to the allowance, as well as on the income of the Beneficiary. - Supplementary Maternity Allowance
This allowance is granted to women employed under public Law regulations at the time their leave due to pregnancy began. The allowance is supplementary to that of Social Security Foundation (I.K.A.). It refers to the pregnancy and confinement period. - Conscription Allowance
This allowance is granted to those who served a prolonged military duty or were called up for further training in wapon systems. A number of 150 wages during the year preceding their joining the army, is being considered to be necessary presupposition. - Allowance To Young People (Aged 20-29)
This allowance is being granted to young people of both sexes, aged 20 to 29, in case they are unemployed. The presupposition of enrolling themselves in the Live Unemployment Register of O.A.E.D. for a year, is considered to be necessary for the receipt of the allowance. |
