Open Day Learn about DYPA Schools – Volos

The Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) organised in Volos the 3rd event titled “Open Day – Get to know the DYPA Schools". The event was also attended by apprentices and students as well as their teaching staff from the local DYPA EPAS and IEK.

DYPA Schools offer quality vocational and technical education studies in fields of study/ specialties which adapt accordingly to the constantly changing local labour markets' needs and are heavily influenced by the speed of economic and technological developments in national and international level.

Aiming to continuously improve the quality of study programs and to adopt the objectives of the European Year of Skills, DYPA monitors and registers these developments, collaborates with Universities and draws know-how from the partnerships with leading companies

With all these strategic options available DYPA now has the necessary openness and expertise to enhance and adapt the curricula offered to those who chose to study in the EPAS' and IEKs operating throughout Greece.

Just like in Karditsa and Larisa where the two first “Open Days” in Thessaly took place, visitors in Volos had also the opportunity to get to know and talk with the apprentices and students, tour around the laboratories in operation and receive information on the curricula.

EPAS apprentices from various fields of study/ specialties undertook the task to present their studies (such as hairdressing, bakery and pastry, Thermal and Hydraulic Facilities technician, Electrical Works and Lift technician, general nursing assistant, Engine and System for Conventional and Electric Cars technician, Gas Fuel [Natural Gas] technician and Computer Systems Support technician). Also, DYPA IEK students in Volos made similar presentations (representing various fields of study/ specialities such as early childhood educator and general nursing assistants, technicians of bakery and pastry, beauty and make up art, hairdressing, Thermal and Hydraulic Facilities and Gas Fuel [Natural Gas]).

The "Open Schools" events for the DYPA EPAS/ IEKs contribute significantly to the information of citizens on Vocational Education and Training, which are key factors for assisting young people in our country to find work and for meeting the needs of businesses with labour force equipped with the necessary skills and therefore contribute to the economic growth.
