Location: Larnaca

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours of Work: Full-time (37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday)

Salary: Up to €67,000 per annum dependent upon skills and experience

Travel: Extensive travel within the Mediterranean Area

 

About the organisation:

As a global organisation, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) operates in over 150 countries and territories tending and conserving the cemeteries and memorials of men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars.

 

With a workforce of over 220 staff, the Mediterranean Area (MA) has responsibility for the cemeteries and memorials in 33 countries around the Mediterranean basin from Northern Italy to Sudan and from temperate to arid zone desert climates.

 

About the role:

The Operations Manager, MA is responsible for ensuring the Area’s operational policies, processes, procedures and deliver corporate maintenance standards by the most effective and efficient means. This includes the prioritisation, planning, co-ordination and execution of Area Horticulture and Works programmes, securing value for money in operational budgets via the appropriate targeting and allocation of resources towards Area and Corporate aims and objectives. Delivery of conservation and irrigation strategies are key challenges of the role. Also ensuring that the operational staff meet the highest standards in terms of Health and Safety.

 

Responsible for ensuring and continually improving the performance and efficiency of Area operations and support services through the procurement, provision and analysis of management information and operational data, benchmarking, key performance indicators and other effective methods and strategies. About you:

  • A university degree in technical/management/administration

  • Relevant experience working in a Management position minimum 5 years

  • Practical experience of project, change and performance management

  • Thorough knowledge of organisational policies, horticultural and works standards and practices

  • Experience of working in different cultures, with an understanding of cultural and political sensitivities

  • Operational experience at Project Management level

  • Full and clean driving licence

  • Microsoft Office including Outlook

  • Must have the right to live and work in the EU and travel within MA
